WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION?
As a physical therapist I love to help people meet their goals but I can only get them so far. I believe the biggest obstacle people face in meeting their goals is themselves. What is that inner voice telling you and do you listen to it? We make several decisions daily, even without being fully aware of the magnitude of some of them, such as what to eat, what clothes to wear, to workout or not, to smile or to have road rage, and the list goes on. In the midst of all of these daily decisions there is a choice to make. For some, the choices may fluctuate depending on the day, but for others there is a clear path and answer to each decision that arrises. The key is to know what is important to you, what drives you, and what is your Inspiration? The answers to these questions drives each decisions you make.
I will give you a personal example to illustrate my point. It’s important to me to stay active and healthy, and what drives this point is the following: I don’t want to be limited on what activities I can do based upon my fitness level. I want to live a long fulfilling life. I know what it feels like to be unhealthy and inactive and don’t want to feel that way again. I want to be active with my wife and be a reliable companion until death. I want to be an active and not a sedentary father. I want to see my kids and grandkids graduate. Theses are just a few of my top examples. My inspiration comes from my grandparents and how I can see first-hand the effects that an active lifestyle can play in your overall health and well-being. I am also inspired by patients with a stark difference in the ones that exercise regularly and the ones that don’t. Lastly, I desire to inspire future generations to come and feel the best way is by living it out.
So, what’s your inspiration? Don’t just think about what motivates you because there is a big difference in motivation and inspiration. Without going off on a tangent, motivation comes and goes, but inspiration is something that will continue to drive you to be the best version of yourself you can be.👇🏼
