REAL TALK TIME: I saw a post yesterday that got to me. I typically pass right by things like this or realize that it's facebook and say "whatever". But this post stuck with me for many reasons.
She was talking about MLM and small business owners needed to stop saying that it was better staying at home doing those things vs a "9-5" job. That it wasn't better than a 9-5.
I'll be real, that got me because it's almost like saying a 9-5 is better. Also a small business owner and MLM are not that same thing. (You can get mad at me later for that but I have both and I will tell you, they are not the same.) Most successful people have multiple streams of income, so outside of your 9-5 job, what are you doing?
I run a small business that takes a crap load of work. I started it on my own and have built it from the ground up. It isn't for everyone. I work more now than I did with my 9-5 but I love what I do. There are times I miss my job in the financial area but as a whole, I'm happier now.
So your main source of income and be your 9-5 or your small business. No one should be saying one is better than the other. If they are, they are being trained that way.
However, most households these days require 2 incomes, EVEN WITH A BUDGET. Multiple incomes could mean multiple jobs for you. I personally like spending time in the house I pay for. I don't want to be out at another job just to make ends meet.
That's when a side gig or working from home can come into play.
I have gained SO much more than money from my "side gig". The confidence I have gained in me and my photography business is INSANE! The friends I have made are life long and some of the most supportive people in my life. When I started this little side gig, I started seeing doors open that I haven't seen before.
So on top of putting food on the table, giving me spending money, giving me a savings, sending me on trips, boosting my confidence and making friends, I also have more opportunities than ever.
